
New Delhi, March 17: On the death anniversary of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and freedom fighter Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna, leaders across the nation paid heartfelt tributes. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami were among those who remembered his contributions. Many leaders also offered floral tributes at his statue.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid homage at Bahuguna’s statue and shared on the social media platform X, “Today, on the death anniversary of the great freedom fighter, popular politician, and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, I paid my respects at his statue in Lucknow.”
He further noted that Bahuguna made remarkable efforts to advance social awareness and national consciousness alongside the country’s independence. “I pay my humble tribute to his sacred memories,” he added.
Adityanath emphasized that this day marks the sacred death anniversary of the esteemed Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna, and on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh government and the people, he offered his respectful homage. Bahuguna worked for every section of society, from the state to the center.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also paid tribute at his residence by offering flowers at Bahuguna’s portrait.
Reflecting on Bahuguna’s personality and achievements, Dhami described him as a visionary leader and skilled administrator. He consistently prioritized public welfare and worked tirelessly for the upliftment of marginalized communities. At the government residence, he paid homage to the great freedom fighter and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, known as the ‘Son of the Himalayas.’
Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna was not only a former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh but also a freedom fighter and adept politician. Born on April 25, 1919, he actively participated in the freedom struggle and later played a significant role in Uttar Pradesh politics. He served as Chief Minister from 1973 to 1975, during which he implemented several important initiatives. Bahuguna is remembered for his simplicity, dedication to public service, and unwavering resolve.
