Kotdwar to Receive Major Boost with ₹675 Crore 400 kV Substation Announcement

Kotdwar, October 19 (Daily Kiran) : Kotdwar is set to benefit from a significant infrastructure upgrade with the announcement of a new 400 kV substation, costing ₹675 crore. Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, the Speaker of the Uttarakhand Assembly, revealed this initiative during a ceremonial event on October 19. This substation will be the fourth of its kind in the state, ensuring round-the-clock electricity supply not only for Kotdwar but also for the entire Pauri Garhwal region.

Khanduri emphasized the importance of respecting and honoring daughters, aligning her comments with the ongoing Navratri celebrations. She noted that today marks the Navami, a day traditionally dedicated to the worship of young girls. “We should honor our daughters every day of the year, not just today,” she said, reinforcing a cultural value that has been cherished in the country for generations.

The new substation’s location has been surveyed and approved by the forest and electricity departments, with a report indicating that land has been earmarked specifically for this project. The funding for the substation has been sanctioned by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and Khanduri expressed her gratitude to the government for facilitating this vital project.

This development is particularly beneficial for Kotdwar’s industrial sector, which will receive consistent electricity supply. The substation will also enhance connectivity for residents, replacing previous power supply routes from Satpuli. With only three existing substations in Uttarakhand, this new facility represents a significant leap in the region’s energy infrastructure.

Khanduri concluded her remarks by thanking the government for their commitment to bringing such a substantial project to Kotdwar, highlighting the positive impact it will have on the community.
