Kirit Somaiya Challenges Congress Over Voter List Integrity

Kirit Somaiya questions Congress on voter registration issues and challenges claims of election fraud related to Bangladeshi voters.

Pune, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : Kirit Somaiya, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has responded to the opposition’s protests and demands for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, labeling the entire situation as a “political drama.” Speaking in Pune, Somaiya criticized Congress for failing to appoint adequate booth agents, claiming that they only managed to assign half of the required 100,000 agents in Maharashtra. He also accused the party of neglecting their responsibilities during the voter registration process.

Somaiya directly challenged Congress, asking them to disclose how many names of Bangladeshi and fraudulent Muslim voters were removed from the electoral rolls. “If you are alleging fraud against the Election Commission, provide the list of names that were cut,” he stated.

He elaborated on the inefficiencies of the Congress party, saying, “In Maharashtra, only 50,000 booth agents were appointed, and during the voter registration process, Congress did nothing.” Somaiya suggested that the opposition’s actions stem from their realization that they cannot win elections due to the removal of these names.

Furthermore, Somaiya commented on the involvement of Bollywood actor Imran Khan, who has raised concerns about the integrity of the electoral process. “I heard Imran Khan’s speech. Today, I presented additional evidence to the Election Commission. He clearly stated that the people’s voices are being suppressed,” Somaiya explained.

He noted that Imran Khan, an American citizen, should not participate in any political activities in India and emphasized that such individuals would need to leave the country.

In response to questions about voter registration, Somaiya mentioned that in Malegaon, over 100,000 names were cut from the list, with many of these individuals not being present in the area. “The true face of those opposing Congress and the Election Commission is now clear to the public,” he concluded.
