Shimla, October 21 (Daily Kiran): A massive fire broke out at a private hotel in Kasol, a popular tourist destination in the Manikaran Valley of Kullu district, on Diwali night, causing panic among tourists and locals. The blaze, believed to have been triggered by Diwali fireworks, engulfed the upper floor of the hotel within minutes.

According to reports, the upper floor — which housed a family suite, a hall, two storerooms, and other valuable items — was completely gutted. However, all tourists staying in the hotel were safely evacuated, and no casualties were reported. Some guests lost personal belongings in the incident.
The Fire Department received the alert around 8 p.m. on Monday. A team was immediately dispatched and reached the site within 18 minutes, covering a distance of about nine kilometres. Two fire tenders and a quick response vehicle were deployed to control the blaze.
A ten-member team, including a leading fireman, two firemen, five home guard firemen, and two drivers, battled the flames for nearly two hours before bringing the situation under control. Officials estimated that property worth around ₹50 lakh was destroyed, while assets worth approximately ₹5 crore were saved due to the timely intervention.
The upper floor of Hotel Kasol Inn suffered the most damage. Nearby establishments, including Odin Hostel, Hotel Teja Singh, and Yash Trading Company, were protected from major loss. While the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, preliminary findings suggest that the blaze may have been sparked by Diwali fireworks.
