Tejashwi Yadav Calls for a Battle to Protect Democracy at Delhi Rally

Tejashwi Yadav demands accountability from the Election Commission and urges unity to defend democracy during a rally in Delhi.

Delhi, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : Tejashwi Yadav, the National Executive President of the Rashtriya Janata Dal and Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, delivered a powerful address at the grand rally of the Indian alliance held at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on Sunday. He took aim at the central government and the Election Commission, calling for the arrest of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on charges of treason.

Yadav asserted that a battle must be fought to safeguard democracy and the Constitution. Referencing the Mahabharata, he noted that while Ramlila Maidan is typically associated with events honoring the Ramayana, today it served as the site for a struggle against electoral fraud.

He drew parallels between the epic’s beginning, which stemmed from a game of dice, and the current manipulation of democracy. Yadav emphasized that just as Shakuni played his game, today’s political landscape mirrors that deceit. He insisted that with such games being played, a battle at Kurukshetra is necessary.

Yadav reiterated his call for Gyanesh Kumar to face legal action, arguing that such measures are essential to deter future attempts to undermine democracy and tamper with the Constitution. He highlighted that the special intensive revision of the electoral rolls began in Bihar, the birthplace of democracy in India.

He also addressed the TCS tender scam and criticized the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, claiming they contributed nothing to the freedom struggle. Yadav accused those who once feared the British of now distributing certificates of patriotism and deciding who is eligible to vote.

He pointed out that the most dangerous element in democracy is not the dictator but the institutions that have become puppets of the government. Today, constitutional bodies are making decisions rather than delivering justice.

Yadav challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking whether he would choose the nation or Gyanesh Kumar. He framed the struggle as one between the voters of India and those committing electoral fraud. He urged the crowd to pledge that they would never allow the erosion of democracy. He declared Bihar as the cradle of democracy and the birthplace of the Indian alliance.

He concluded with a message of hope, stating that the people of Bihar will teach the BJP a lesson and work to remove them from power. Yadav called for unity in the fight to protect democracy and the Constitution.
