Priyank Kharge emphasizes the significance of Kannada language and culture at the 71st Karnataka Rajyotsava celebration in Kalaburagi.

Kalaburagi, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : Priyank Kharge, Karnataka’s Minister for Home, IT-BT, e-Governance, and in charge of Kalaburagi district, highlighted the multifaceted nature of the Kannada language during the 71st Karnataka Rajyotsava celebration. Speaking at the Nagari Shwar School campus in Kalaburagi on Sunday, he stated that Kannada is not merely a language; it embodies emotions, history, thought, and culture. He urged the preservation of the state’s rich literary and cultural heritage for future generations.
After hoisting the national flag, Kharge noted the diverse literary traditions of Kannada, which include folk literature, Jain literature, and significant movements such as Navodaya and Bandaya. He expressed pride in the unique literary heritage that Kannada possesses, which is rarely found in other languages.
Kharge also mentioned the recent invitation extended to over 40 foreign ambassadors during the Dasara celebrations, allowing for meaningful exchanges about Karnataka’s art, literature, cuisine, and culture. The ambassadors were surprised to learn that the Kannada language has a history spanning nearly 2,000 years and appreciated its rich literary legacy and the state’s cultural diversity.
He pointed out that Karnataka showcases varied identities and traditions across its regions. For instance, Malnad is known for its greenery, Kalyana Karnataka is associated with tuvar dal and Sufi saints, and the Mandya region is linked to silk and dairy. Each coastal area boasts its distinct culture, while Karnataka stands as a land of art, equality, knowledge, and opportunities for youth.
To promote the comprehensive development of Kalaburagi, Kharge announced a new master plan aimed at attracting foreign investment, generating employment, and improving infrastructure. He expressed confidence that the results of these developmental initiatives would become evident within the next two years.
The government has also established the Prabuddha Academy to assist youth in preparing for competitive exams. Additionally, the Kalaburagi Next Foundation has been set up to explore new development initiatives, including projects through public-private partnerships.
In discussions with Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Kharge emphasized the importance of government-private collaboration in development efforts. He noted that the Chief Minister announced the Kalyana Karnataka Economic Mission on September 17 to accelerate regional growth. While Bengaluru contributes approximately 40% to the state’s GDP, Kalaburagi district accounts for only 1.9%. Kharge reiterated that increasing employment and per capita income in this region is one of the government’s key objectives.
