Mumbai, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : Famous singer Kailash Kher recently shared his insights on the ongoing debate surrounding creative freedom during a special conversation. He emphasized the importance of sensitivity, grace, and culture as essential qualities for artists.
Kher stated that a true artist must be sensitive and strive to bring smiles to people’s faces while also empathizing with their pain. He believes that the stage should be used to win the hearts of the audience.
When asked about the balance between addressing sensitive issues and protecting creative freedom, Kher responded affirmatively. He remarked, “An artist must be sensitive. If someone claims to be an artist but lacks sensitivity, they are not an artist; they are merely a provocateur. The stage is meant for winning people’s hearts.”
He further elaborated, “Engaging in meaningless chatter or attempting to entertain without sensitivity, or criticizing others, can identify someone as a slanderer. However, satire or criticism can also be viewed as a form of art. Everyone has their perspective, but our thoughts should lean towards purity.”
Kher asserted that genuine feelings only hold meaning when one can empathize with another’s suffering, bring joy to others, and put smiles on their faces through their work.
He concluded by stating that purity of heart, cleanliness, decorum, and culture are vital qualities for any artist.
Kher first gained prominence with the touching song “Allah Ke Bande” from the 2003 film “Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part 2.” Since then, he has released numerous hit songs, including “Teri Diwani,” “Saiyaan,” and “Bam Lahiri.” His voice has also graced various acclaimed films such as “Mangal Pandey: The Rising,” “Corporate,” “Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love,” and the “Baahubali” series.
