JP Nadda to Visit Flood-Affected Arunachal Pradesh Amid Ongoing Relief Efforts

Itanagar, August 6: Union Health Minister JP Nadda is set to visit Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday as part of his three-day tour to assess the impact of floods and landslides in the northeastern states. Previously, he has already visited flood-affected areas in Assam and Nagaland.

Nadda’s itinerary includes inspecting regions hit by sudden floods and cloudbursts. He plans to visit relief camps, assess damaged roads and infrastructure, and meet with families affected by the disaster to hear their concerns. His goal is to understand the situation regarding relief, rehabilitation, and health services on the ground.

On Wednesday, Nadda was in Assam, where he toured the flood-affected areas of Bihubor and Nepali Khuti in Sivasagar district alongside Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The floods have severely damaged hundreds of homes, submerged fields, and resulted in significant losses to livestock.

Speaking to the locals, Nadda emphasized that the central government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, stands firmly with the people of Assam. He assured that there would be no shortage in the relief and rehabilitation efforts.

He mentioned that a central team is currently assessing the damage to expedite the assistance process. Nadda reassured the people of Assam that the government would provide every possible support for reconstruction efforts.

Following his visit to Assam, Nadda proceeded to Nagaland, accompanied by the state’s Health Minister Ashok Singhal and Rajya Sabha member Phangnon Konyak. In Mon district, heavy rainfall has caused multiple landslides, particularly affecting the Defense Colony and Techa Ward areas.

During his visit to the Defense Colony, Nadda observed the damaged homes and blocked roads. He spoke with displaced families residing at the Konyak Union Office and offered them comfort in the wake of their losses.

Reassuring the affected families, Nadda stated that the central government is collaborating with the Nagaland government to provide timely assistance and support in response to the floods and landslides.

In Mon, several homes have collapsed due to landslides, forcing residents to evacuate. Road connectivity has been disrupted, and power and water supply have been affected in some areas.
