New Delhi, July 30: The standoff between the ruling party and the opposition in Parliament continues. On Thursday, tensions escalated in the Rajya Sabha as Congress and several other opposition parties boycotted the proceedings. In response, Leader of the House JP Nadda launched a sharp attack on the opposition.
He accused the opposition of aiming solely to disrupt the functioning of the House since the session began. Nadda stated that the opposition’s focus has been on preventing smooth operations in the Parliament.
Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, JP Nadda remarked that the opposition has become entirely devoid of issues. He criticized their tendency to constantly shift their stance. He emphasized that the government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has always been prepared to discuss any topic. This readiness is not limited to the current session but has been evident in all previous sessions as well.
Nadda pointed out that whenever discussions have taken place, the opposition has received a strong rebuttal due to their lack of substantial issues. He reiterated that the government has consistently been open to discussions on all matters, and whenever such discussions occurred, the opposition faced significant challenges, as they lacked genuine issues to present.
He further noted that the opposition had previously demanded discussions, and in line with that, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh is set to introduce the relevant bill for discussion at 2 PM on Thursday. Despite this, the opposition changed its stance again and attempted to disrupt the proceedings. The Leader of the House condemned the opposition’s behavior, asserting that Parliament should convey the message that the government is ready for discussions on all topics, while the opposition is acting irresponsibly.
It is noteworthy that the ongoing standoff between the ruling and opposition parties has persisted in Parliament. On Thursday, Congress MPs also demanded the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the House. The opposition insists that Shah should provide information regarding the police action against protesting students. Opposition MPs created a ruckus in the House over this issue on Thursday as well.
