New Delhi, September 1 (Kiran News). Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi delivered a brilliant performance in the women’s singles final at the Badminton World Championships held in Paris, defeating China’s former world number one Chen Yufei in straight sets 21-9, 21-13 to claim her third world title.

Fifth-seeded Yamaguchi wrapped up the match in just 37 minutes, securing her third gold medal after her victories in 2021 and 2022. She played with complete confidence throughout, giving her opponent no chance to make a comeback.
China’s Tokyo Olympic gold medallist Chen Yufei had reached the final after defeating top seed and defending champion An Se-young of South Korea in the semi-final. However, an ankle injury sustained during the semi-final clearly affected her movement in the final. Yamaguchi dominated the first game and continued to collect points after the interval in the second, ensuring a comprehensive win. This is Chen’s second silver medal at the World Championships.
In the same tournament, Malaysia’s fourth-seeded pair Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei put up an impressive display to beat China’s second seeds Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin 21-15, 21-14 and clinch the mixed doubles title.
Meanwhile, the men’s singles final will feature China’s world number one Shi Yuqi against Thailand’s defending champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn.
