Both Ayurveda and modern science recommend drinking about two liters of water daily. However, this is only beneficial when the body naturally signals thirst. Among various water types, copper water is often touted for its health benefits, but is it suitable for everyone?

Copper water is a traditional element in Indian culture. However, Ayurveda never imposes remedies without recognizing the body’s constitution. Each substance’s effects depend on an individual’s nature, condition, and timing. Modern science also suggests that excess copper can disrupt the body’s balance in certain situations. Copper water is known for its warm and sharp qualities, aiding digestion but potentially increasing pitta dosha, which may not be beneficial for everyone.

So, who should avoid copper water? Individuals with diabetes should refrain from consuming it, as their body constitution tends to be pitta. Increased pitta can elevate body heat, leading to various health issues. Additionally, those suffering from liver and kidney problems should also avoid copper water, as it can adversely affect their organ functions and hinder filtration processes.

Moreover, small children should not drink copper water. Their digestive fire is not robust enough to handle it, especially on an empty stomach. Both science and Ayurveda agree that excessive copper can lead to imbalances in blood sugar levels and put undue stress on blood vessels.

In conclusion, while copper water has its benefits, it is not universally advantageous. Awareness of individual health conditions is crucial before incorporating it into one’s diet.
