Irans Oil Tanker Silly City Returns Safely Despite US Warnings

Tehran, April 21: Iran has announced that its oil tanker, ‘Silly City,’ has returned home, defying U.S. blockades and warnings. Various local media outlets reported this development.

According to Tasnim News Agency, the tanker successfully entered Iranian territorial waters late Monday night with the assistance of naval operations.

Ship tracking services confirmed that the vessel arrived in Iranian waters from Indonesia, having successfully navigated the Strait of Hormuz despite the U.S. blockade. It transported a shipment of two million barrels of oil to the Riau Islands in Indonesia before making its return.

The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) also reported this, citing the Iranian Army. In a statement released on Tuesday, the military noted that despite repeated warnings and threats from U.S. naval forces, the tanker safely crossed the Arabian Sea and reached Iranian waters overnight.

The statement further indicated that the ship is under naval supervision, is secure, and has anchored safely at one of Iran’s southern ports after completing its journey.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced a naval blockade on April 12, just four days after a ceasefire agreement, escalating tensions between the two sides.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the U.S. military seized a commercial Iranian vessel, ‘Toska,’ claiming it violated the blockade. This has led to a flurry of statements from both parties, raising doubts about ongoing talks in Islamabad. Iranian officials assert that the U.S. is violating ceasefire rules, while Trump maintains that the blockade will continue if the Strait of Hormuz remains closed.
