Mumbai, April 6: Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, engaged in discussions with his counterparts from India and Russia regarding the ongoing regional conflict involving the United States and Israel.
According to statements released by the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Araghchi held two separate phone calls on Sunday with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar. They discussed the current situation in West Asia and the security and economic impacts of attacks by the U.S. and Israel.
Araghchi reported that over the past 37 days, the U.S. and Israel have launched numerous attacks against the Iranian people. These assaults have targeted industrial infrastructure, factories, hospitals, schools, residential areas, and nuclear facilities.
He urged influential countries associated with the United Nations Security Council to adopt a responsible approach based on international law.
Additionally, he stated that the Iranian people and military are fully prepared to defend the nation’s interests and security. He warned that the repercussions of U.S. and Israeli attacks could affect stability and security across the region and the world.
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized the urgent need to halt “illegal” attacks on civilian areas. He specifically mentioned assaults on the Bushehr nuclear facility in southern Iran and called for all possible efforts to prevent the conflict from escalating.
Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar highlighted the importance of restoring peace and stability in the region. He affirmed India’s support for efforts at both regional and international levels to prevent war.
This dialogue comes at a time of heightened tensions in the region following joint attacks by the U.S. and Israel on Iran since February 28. In response, Iran and its allied nations have targeted U.S. and Israeli positions in the Middle East.
