Iran Claims Military Drone Completed Mission Amid US Tensions

Tehran, February 4 – Iranian media has reported that a military drone successfully completed a mission over the sea amid rising tensions with the United States. According to Iranian sources, the drone was conducting a surveillance mission in international waters.

This claim followed shortly after the US military announced that it had shot down an Iranian aircraft that approached dangerously close to a US aircraft carrier.

Fars News Agency, citing unnamed sources, stated that the drone monitored military activities around Iran and transmitted real-time data to a ground base. Xinhua News Agency described such missions as essential for comprehensive regional surveillance.

Meanwhile, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency reported that contact has been lost with one of its drones, and investigations are underway to determine the cause. An official statement will be made once the findings are confirmed.

Earlier, the US Central Command said a US F-35C fighter jet was forced to shoot down an Iranian Shahed-139 drone over the Arabian Sea. The command explained that the drone had approached the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier at a distance of about 800 km from the Iranian coast in international waters.

The US military described the action as self-defence and confirmed that no US personnel were injured and no equipment was damaged during the incident.

This event occurred amid a significant US military presence in the region. The Trump administration had deployed an aircraft carrier strike group and several warships to the Middle East in late January, continuing to issue warnings to Tehran.
