Guwahati, March 30: The third match of the Indian Premier League 2026 is taking place at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). RR captain Riyan Parag won the toss and opted to bowl first.
After winning the toss, Parag stated, “We will bowl first. There has been a lot of rain here, so even though it’s a red soil wicket, there will still be some moisture. We will try to take advantage of that in the initial overs and see how we progress in the game. It feels great to lead. This is a very emotional experience for me. I have been with this franchise for the past eight years. Looking back at my journey from being 17 years old to now captaining the team, I feel the support I have received has been tremendous.”
Parag added, “All my teammates have been very helpful and supportive. I hope this season proves to be a good one for us. Our goal is to win the championship. Our foreign players today are Nandre, Jofra, Donovan, and Shimron Hetmyer.”
CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad remarked, “To be honest, choosing to bowl first was an easy decision. The wicket has been under covers for a while, and the weather is overcast, so we would have preferred to bowl first as well. However, we will still aim for a positive start. Our four foreign players today are Matt Short, Jamie Overton, Noor Ahmad, and Matt Henry.”
This match holds significant emotional weight for CSK and its fans. Former captain MS Dhoni is absent due to injury, while veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is playing for RR this time. Additionally, long-time RR captain Sanju Samson is now part of CSK.
