New Delhi, March 27: At the ongoing International Film Festival at Bharat Mandapam, Malayalam film industry actor Jishnu Shreekumar and writer-director Jitin K. Jos engaged in a candid discussion. They shared insights on their festival experience, the evolving interests of audiences, and the impact of OTT platforms.
Actor Jishnu Shreekumar expressed, “Although this is our first experience at Bharat Mandapam, we have participated in several major film festivals before. It always feels great to be part of such events. We hope there will be many more prestigious film festivals in India.”
Writer-director Jitin K. Jos praised the organization and overall experience, stating, “Everything here is fantastic. We will definitely return.”
During the conversation, a question was raised regarding the quality of sound and its alignment with storytelling in films. The director responded, “I believe that after the internet revolution, people have become accustomed to watching films from around the world. Audience awareness of cinema has increased. They now understand cinematic nuances better. Filmmakers have more freedom to experiment and explore diverse themes. This is excellent for the evolution of cinema.”
Jitin K. Jos further noted, “The barriers of language and culture that once existed are gradually diminishing. People can now easily watch and understand films in different languages and cultures.”
Another question addressed the changes in directors’ work due to the rise of OTT platforms. Jitin K. Jos affirmed, “Absolutely. After my film’s release, I received numerous messages from various parts of the country, including Northern India. The reach of films has significantly increased due to OTT platforms. Every day, new viewers are joining. This boosts our confidence. Our target audience is no longer limited to one region but has expanded across the country and the world.”
He added, “This broader audience base gives us more freedom and enthusiasm to experiment. We can take more risks and tell new stories than ever before.”
