New Delhi, August 1: Indian Railways has recommended the early retirement of five Group ‘A’ officials in a move deemed necessary for the “public interest.” This decision is based on concerns regarding their integrity, vigilance inputs, disciplinary history, and other service records.
According to an official statement from the Railways, “Review committees have recommended the early retirement of two SAG officers from IRHS, one JAG officer from the Northern Railway’s IRS, one officer from the Northern Railway’s IRSEE, and one JAG officer from the Western Railway’s IRTS.”
The statement emphasized that Indian Railways maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, lack of integrity, and incompetence.
It further stated, “Integrity, discipline, and accountability in public service are non-negotiable. This action, taken under the relevant provisions of the Indian Railways Establishment Code, aims to uphold these values.”
The decision was made under Rule 1802(A) of Section II of the Indian Railways Establishment Code, which is equivalent to Rule 56(J) of the Fundamental Rules.
Review committees conducted a thorough assessment of the officials’ service records, including annual performance appraisal reports, integrity records, vigilance inputs, disciplinary history, and other relevant service documents.
The committees unanimously recommended the early retirement of these officials in the public interest.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw held a high-level review meeting with senior officials regarding the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) recruitment process. He stressed the need for a more transparent, accurate, and technology-based system.
