Aam Aadmi Party Protests Against E-20 Petrol Issues in New Delhi

New Delhi, August 1: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) organized a protest march towards Prime Minister Modi’s residence on Saturday, addressing concerns over E-20 petrol. Party leaders emphasized the need for the government to retract its decision, claiming that E-20 petrol is damaging vehicles and reducing fuel efficiency.

Legislator Sanjeev Jha stated that over 600,000 people joined online during the protest, sharing their grievances. This highlights the significance of the issue, as many are affected, yet the government remains unresponsive. Jha criticized the government for making illogical statements, noting that voters elected them to serve, not to cause distress.

AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal has repeatedly urged the government to reconsider its decision. If no action is taken, the public plans to appeal directly at the Prime Minister’s doorstep. This issue transcends party lines; it is a public concern regarding the ethanol blend in petrol.

Legislators Jarnail Singh and Kuldeep Singh expressed that the petrol blend is causing widespread discontent. E-20 petrol is leading to both mileage and maintenance issues for vehicles. Millions are suffering, yet the government seems oblivious. In connection with this, a National Townhall meeting was held at the Constitutional Club in Delhi, where citizens shared their experiences of vehicle failures due to E-20 petrol. Until the public raises their voices loudly, the government is unlikely to listen.

AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj stated that their demands are simple. Due to E-20 petrol, many are experiencing a 30 to 40 percent drop in mileage. He called for the availability of pure petrol for those who prefer it, while allowing others to continue purchasing the blended fuel.

Kejriwal has made three demands to the central government: First, every petrol pump should offer both E-20 and pure petrol options. Second, E-20 should be priced lower than pure petrol. Third, the price of pure petrol should be reduced to below 84 rupees. He noted that over 200,000 people have signed a petition against E-20. On August 4, at noon, he plans to present this petition to Prime Minister Modi to amplify the public’s voice.
