Belmopan, May 13: Indian Minister of State for External Affairs, Pavitra Margerita, has arrived in Belize after completing her visit to Honduras as part of her Caribbean tour.
Upon her arrival in the capital, Belmopan, Margerita expressed her excitement on social media platform ‘X’, stating, “I am very happy to reach this great Caribbean country, Belize, on my first official visit. Thank you to the Belize government for the warm welcome. I look forward to a productive and successful trip.”
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), during her visit, Margerita will meet with senior officials from the Belize government and tour sites related to India’s development projects.
Before arriving in Belize, Margerita completed her visit to Honduras, where she engaged with the Indian community and alumni of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program. She acknowledged their contributions to strengthening India-Honduras relations and emphasized enhancing mutual engagement among the people.
On Tuesday, she met with Honduran Foreign Minister Mireya Aguero. The two leaders reviewed the progress in bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening institutional cooperation.
Following the meeting, Margerita shared on ‘X’, “It was a pleasure to meet with Honduran Foreign Minister Mireya Aguero. We discussed the ongoing progress in our bilateral relations and reiterated our shared commitment to enhancing institutional cooperation and partnership.”
She also met with Honduras’ First Vice President Maria Antonieta Mejia, where both sides discussed ways to deepen bilateral relations.
Regarding this meeting, she posted on ‘X’, “It was great to meet with Honduras’ First Vice President Maria Antonieta Mejia. We exchanged views on several issues related to strengthening our bilateral relations.”
Additionally, she met with Yaser Handal Karkamo, the Secretary of Culture, Arts, and Heritage of Honduras, to discuss increasing cooperation in the fields of art, yoga, wellness, cinema, and cultural exchange.
