New Delhi, June 1: Fahad Suri, the Indian Consul General in Jeddah, extended his congratulations to all Indian Hajj pilgrims on the successful completion of the Hajj rituals. He also wished for the safe and smooth return of all pilgrims as the departure phase begins.
Suri expressed his happiness, stating, “I am pleased to announce that the fundamental phase of Hajj has been successfully completed. The return of pilgrims from Mina occurred peacefully yesterday. Thus, the most important rituals of Hajj have been fulfilled. On this blessed occasion, I congratulate all pilgrims on the successful performance of Hajj. We pray that your devotion and efforts are accepted, and that you return home with abundant blessings and spiritual benefits.”
The return phase starts on June 1, with arrangements made to ensure a comfortable and peaceful journey for all pilgrims. He also wished good health and comfort for those still staying in the area.
This year, over 1.5 million people have arrived in Mecca for the Hajj pilgrimage. The pilgrimage takes place at a time when hopes are rising for an end to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
To ensure the safety of travelers, the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Defense has enhanced its aerial security. Millions of pilgrims, dressed in white garments, have arrived in the large camp area of Mina, both by bus and on foot. Before this, they performed the ‘Tawaf,’ circling the Kaaba in the Grand Mosque of Mecca seven times.
According to the Adenkronos news agency, the Hajj commenced amid indications from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the extension of a fragile ceasefire with Iran and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
This year’s Hajj pilgrimage includes Muslims from around the world, including those from Iran. The pilgrimage occurs at a time when Iran has targeted several locations in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries in recent months.
Saudi officials have worked to ensure that the ongoing tensions and conflicts do not affect the Hajj pilgrimage. A significant number of people have traveled long distances to participate in this important religious journey.
Despite the prevailing tensions and uncertainties, Saudi officials report that this year, more international pilgrims are participating in Hajj compared to 2025.
