New Delhi, August 4: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju met with Indian boxers who won medals at the Commonwealth Games 2026 at his residence in New Delhi on Tuesday. During the meeting, Rijiju congratulated the athletes for their outstanding performances and for elevating India’s stature in the sport. He praised their dedication, discipline, and fighting spirit, which serve as an inspiration for young athletes across the country.
Rijiju engaged in discussions with several medalists, including Preeti Pawar, Jasmine Lamboria, Jadumani Singh, Sakshi, Priya, Arundhati Chaudhary, Narendra Berwal, Lovlina Borgohain, Sachin Siwach, and Ankush Panghal. He was accompanied by Ajay Singh, President of the Boxing Federation of India (BFI), CEO Colonel Arun Malik, and Deputy Director Suhail Parvez.
India topped the boxing events at the Commonwealth Games 2026, securing a total of 10 medals. All 10 Indian boxers reached the finals, with 7 winning gold medals and 3 taking home silver.
Among the highlights, female boxer Preeti Pawar claimed gold in the women’s 54 kg category, while Jasmine Lamboria won gold in the women’s 57 kg division. Jadumani Singh earned silver in the men’s 55 kg category, and Sakshi Chaudhary secured gold in the women’s 51 kg class.
Arundhati Chaudhary was crowned the gold medalist in the 70 kg category, while Narendra Berwal achieved silver in the men’s 90+ kg division. Lovlina Borgohain also earned silver in the women’s 75 kg category. Sachin Siwach won the title in the men’s 60 kg class, and Ankush Panghal triumphed in the men’s 80 kg category.
Overall, India achieved a remarkable tally of 39 medals at the Commonwealth Games 2026, comprising 13 gold, 17 silver, and 9 bronze. This placed India fourth in the medal standings, with Australia leading at 171 medals, followed by England with 110 and Canada with 62.
