Indian Americans Celebrate BJPs Victory in West Bengal

Washington, May 5: Indian American leaders in the United States have welcomed the Indian People’s Party’s (BJP) victory in West Bengal. They described it as a “historic mandate” and a crucial turning point for governance, security, and development in the state.

Prominent Indian American Dr. Bharat Barai called this outcome a “significant win for the people of West Bengal.” He accused the previous government of fostering a mafia empire using “all the resources of the state.”

He stated that voters faced threats of rape, arson, and murder, which deterred them from voting. He also claimed that “TMC goons covered the voting buttons for BJP candidates on the EVMs with tape and blocked them.” He emphasized that the “reign of terror in West Bengal” has weakened democratic institutions.

Dr. Adapa Prasad, president of Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP-USA), extended heartfelt congratulations to the people of Bengal and Assam for BJP’s historic victory in Bengal and impressive win in Assam. He further noted that the party also achieved significant victories in Puducherry and made important gains in Kerala, while maintaining its seat count in Tamil Nadu.

Dr. Prasad remarked that the implications of this result are far-reaching. He stated, “BJP’s victory in Bengal is crucial for India’s security. The bad days in Bengal are now over.”

He added that the state has faced “decades of unchecked hooliganism, extortion, violence, infiltration, demographic changes, loss of industries, and other issues.”

OFBJP-USA Secretary General Dr. Vasudev Patel highlighted the strategic importance of the state, saying, “This border state in the east is vital for the nation’s security and integrity.” He mentioned that the organization plans to hold victory celebrations across the United States.

Cardiologist Dr. Indranil Basu-Ray pointed out that decades of governance have led to “the collapse of full industrialization, widespread unemployment, rising poverty, and a lack of basic resources,” along with “an overwhelming amount of crime, with a criminal gang ruling the streets.”

He stated, “After more than 50 years of struggle by patriotic Bengalis, BJP’s remarkable victory in Bengal has been achieved.” He further noted that this moment offers an opportunity to “regain Bengal’s dignity and restore its spiritual glory.”

He added, “This historic mandate reflects the public’s trust, aspirations, and desire for strong governance, development, and cultural pride. The end of AITC’s ineffective and incompetent rule marks the beginning of a new chapter for Bengal.”

Community leader Amitabh Mittal expressed that this victory has sparked new hope that Bengal will reclaim its former glory and move towards the development, prosperity, and progress it has long been deprived of.

He congratulated the BJP leadership, workers, supporters, and voters who tirelessly worked to make this victory possible. He stated that this mandate will bring peace, prosperity, and a bright future for Bengal.
