Delhi police apprehended a husband for shooting his wife and raided an illegal firecracker factory, seizing 567 kg of explosives.

New Delhi, October 15 (Daily Kiran) : In a series of swift police actions, authorities in New Delhi have arrested a man for allegedly shooting his wife and dismantled an illegal firecracker factory in separate operations. The incident involving the shooting occurred in the Welcome area, where police apprehended the suspect just hours after the crime.

According to Additional DCP Sandeep Lamba, the shooting took place between 8:00 and 8:30 PM. The accused reportedly shot his wife and fled the scene, while continuing to threaten her afterward. The victim contacted the police to report the incident. Following this, both uniformed and plainclothes officers from the Welcome police station sprang into action. The woman provided them with a photograph of her husband, which was circulated among the police teams.

Officers began searching various markets in the area for the suspect. Information indicated that he was still nearby. Based on his clothing description, police identified and arrested him within hours. A country-made pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from his possession. Lamba stated that the couple had been involved in a domestic dispute, and the husband allegedly intended to teach his wife a lesson. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.

In a separate operation, police from the Harsh Vihar station, along with the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), raided a house in Mandoli village. They discovered an illegal firecracker factory run by a man named Mohammad Taiyab.

Lamba noted that with Diwali approaching, Taiyab was preparing to manufacture and sell firecrackers. Local police received a tip-off about the factory, leading to the raid. During the operation, officers seized 567 kilograms of illegal firecrackers and related materials. Taiyab was arrested, and police are now investigating the sources of the materials used in the production and the supply chain involved. Further investigations are underway in both cases.
