Ramdas Athawale Challenges Rahul Gandhi: To Remove PM Modi, Fight Elections, Not Movements

Ramdas Athawale criticizes Rahul Gandhis calls for protests, emphasizing the need for elections to change leadership.

New Delhi, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : Central Minister Ramdas Athawale responded sharply to Rahul Gandhi’s demands during a rally at Ramleela Maidan organized by the India Bloc. Athawale asserted that Gandhi’s approach of trying to remove officials through protests is futile. “In India, we operate under Ambedkar’s Constitution; we cannot allow a situation like Bangladesh,” he stated.

Athawale elaborated on the recent review of the electoral rolls, which involved examining 130 million names. He noted that 62 million names were found to be transferred, 28 million were deceased, and others were either duplicates or had outdated addresses. This initiative, he explained, aims to enhance transparency in the electoral process.

Addressing the rally, Athawale remarked, “Rahul Gandhi claims he will remove Gyanesh Kumar. How can he do that? You are demanding that the electoral list be accurate and that voting fraud must not occur.” He pointed out that the scrutiny of the voter list revealed 62 million individuals had moved and were previously registered elsewhere, necessitating their removal from the current list.

He also highlighted that 28 million deceased voters had their names removed to prevent bogus voting. Additionally, 30 million voters had not updated their address information. Athawale emphasized the importance of maintaining accurate records, especially as many individuals now live in cities like Mumbai.

Athawale expressed confidence in the current government’s achievements under Prime Minister Modi, stating that India has become one of the world’s largest economies. He cited improvements in infrastructure, food distribution to 800 million people over the past seven to eight years, and the opening of bank accounts for 600 million citizens. He noted that significant advancements in airports and housing have been made, along with various welfare initiatives.

Criticizing the Congress party, Athawale suggested that opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and others, appear troubled by the current political landscape. He reiterated that if anyone wishes to remove PM Modi, they must do so through elections, not protests. “We are preparing for the 2029 elections. If the public supports Rahul Gandhi and the opposition, they will form a government. If they support PM Modi, he will continue to lead,” he concluded.
