New Delhi, February 6: President Droupadi Murmu announced on Friday that India will play a crucial role in leveraging global artificial intelligence expertise and technology for the benefit of its people.
Speaking at the Black Swan Summit in Odisha, Murmu stated, “The government has launched the India AI Mission to enhance AI research in the country. This month, the government will host the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, with participation from around 100 countries.”
She further emphasized, “The goal of this summit is not just to view AI as an advanced technology but to make it a strategic tool for inclusive development and access to opportunities for people.”
According to information released by the government earlier this week, the India AI Impact Summit has already seen over 35,000 registrations for the event scheduled for 2026. More than 500 startups from over 100 countries will participate in 500 sessions.
A statement from the ministry indicated that the India AI Impact Summit, set to take place from February 16-20, 2026, is expected to be the largest among the four global AI summits held so far. It reflects the growing international momentum around responsible, inclusive, and impact-driven artificial intelligence.
The statement also noted that the summit has attracted unprecedented interest, with over 35,000 registrations from countries worldwide. It will prioritize implementing the vision, focusing on tangible outcomes that matter at the grassroots level.
Governments, industry leaders, researchers, civil society organizations, and international institutions will actively participate in shaping the summit’s agenda. The event is expected to feature participation from over 100 countries, including 15 to 20 heads of state, more than 50 ministers from various nations, and over 40 CEOs from companies worldwide and in India. Nearly 500 key figures from the global AI ecosystem, including innovators, researchers, and chief technology officers, are also anticipated to attend.
