Nagoya, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian men’s 10m air rifle team, featuring Himanshu Dhillon, Parth Mane, and Rudraksh Patil, delivered an impressive performance to win the silver medal at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya. This achievement brings India’s total medal count in the Games to three.
In the qualification round, Rudraksh excelled with a score of 631.8, securing third place, while Himanshu and Parth followed closely with scores of 630 and 628.3, respectively, contributing to a combined total of 1890.1 points. This marks Rudraksh’s second medal at the Asian Games; he previously won gold at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou.
China claimed the gold medal with a world-record score of 1899.0, while South Korea took home the bronze with 1884.2 points. Both Rudraksh and Himanshu qualified for the individual finals by finishing in the top eight during the qualification round.
Earlier in the competition, Indian shooter Elavenil Valarivan won two silver medals, contributing to the team’s success. She placed second in the women’s 10m air rifle individual event after helping secure the team silver. This is Elavenil’s first individual medal at the Asian Games, having participated as a teenager in Jakarta 2018 without reaching the finals.
Elavenil also holds an Asian record of 253.6, achieved during her victory at the Asian Championships in Shymkent last year. She successfully defended her continental title at the Asian Championships in New Delhi in 2026.
India has now secured three silver medals at the Games, all in shooting events. In the previous edition of the Asian Games held in Hangzhou, Indian shooters won an impressive total of 22 medals, including 7 golds, 9 silvers, and 6 bronzes.
