India Emerges as a Global Tech Hub at Mobile Congress 2026

New Delhi, October 8 (Daily Kiran) : The India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026 in New Delhi has showcased the burgeoning digital capabilities and technological talent of India, drawing attention from global tech companies, industry experts, and policymakers. Participants noted that India is evolving from merely a large market to a significant center for global tech innovation and manufacturing.

Atul B. Lal, Managing Director and Vice President of Dixon Technologies (India) Limited, emphasized the increased scale and impact of this year’s IMC compared to previous years. He noted a palpable enthusiasm among stakeholders regarding the opportunities present in India’s tech landscape, leading to optimism within the industry.

Lal highlighted that the telecommunications sector is set to become a high-growth area for Dixon Technologies. The company is currently developing advanced tech products for telecom networks and data centers. Recently, they entered a licensing agreement with a U.S. firm related to microwave radio technology, which is part of their future development plans.

Moirangthem Manitombi Devi from BSNL remarked that the IMC serves as a crucial platform for understanding new technologies and exploring future opportunities. She stated that events like this provide insights into the prospects of 5G and 6G technologies, enabling organizations and entrepreneurs to identify potential avenues for growth.

Vibha Mehra, Country Manager at Nokia India, noted that the IMC, initiated by the Indian government nearly a decade ago, has become one of the most significant events in the telecommunications industry. She emphasized that Nokia has been part of this event from the beginning, showcasing its latest technologies annually. The IMC offers clients, partners, and startups an opportunity to closely examine and understand new innovations.

Michaela Angonius, Head of Policy and Regulation at GSMA, expressed that the energy and enthusiasm at the IMC are remarkable. She pointed out that India is advancing its digital economy by prioritizing connectivity, which is having a global impact. Angonius highlighted that the youth in India are moving beyond traditional thinking to develop new solutions, contributing to the rapid growth of startups and innovation.

She also mentioned that satellite communications are a key topic of discussion this year, potentially becoming an integral part of the communication sector in the future.

Hiroyuki Kato, a senior manager at Japan’s Anritsu Corporation, shared that his company has long been interested in collaborating with India. He acknowledged the strong global presence of Indian talent, especially in the software sector, leading Anritsu to establish a dedicated software development team in India.

Khalil Hayas Rashid, representing the Halabja Chamber of Commerce and Industry from Iraq’s Kurdistan region, described his experience at the IMC as highly positive. He stated, “This is an excellent exhibition showcasing a wide range of technology and business opportunities.”
