India Announces Women’s Squad for Australia White-Ball Series, Shreyanka Patil Returns

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian women’s cricket team for the upcoming limited-overs series against Australia. The highly anticipated multi-format series will begin with three T20 matches starting from 15 February, followed by an equal number of One Day Internationals (ODIs).

Shreyanka Patil Returns to T20 Squad

The T20 squad features the return of spinner Shreyanka Patil, who was sidelined for nearly 14 months due to injuries to her calf, wrist, and thumb. Patil last represented India in the T20 World Cup 2024 and is now making a comeback in this format. The team also includes wicketkeeping options Richa Ghosh and J Kamalini for both white-ball formats.

Series Schedule and Leadership

The three T20 matches will be played at different venues: the first on 15 February at Sydney Cricket Ground, the second on 19 February at Manuka Oval in Canberra, and the third on 21 February at Adelaide Oval. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the Indian side in both T20 and ODI formats, with Smriti Mandhana serving as the deputy captain.

The ODI series is scheduled to begin on 24 February at Brisbane’s Allan Border Field, followed by matches on 27 February and 1 March at Bellerive Oval in Hobart. The tour will conclude with a solitary Test match from 6 to 9 March at Perth Stadium, for which the squad will be announced later.

The Indian T20 squad for the Australia tour includes Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Smriti Mandhana (vice-captain), Shafali Verma, Renuka Thakur, Shri Charani, Vaishnavi Sharma, Kranti Goud, Sneh Rana, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (wicketkeeper), J Kamalini (wicketkeeper), Arundhati Reddy, Amanjot Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues, Bharti Fulmali, and Shreyanka Patil.

The ODI team comprises Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Smriti Mandhana (vice-captain), Shafali Verma, Renuka Thakur, Shri Charani, Vaishnavi Sharma, Kranti Goud, Sneh Rana, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (wicketkeeper), J Kamalini (wicketkeeper), Kashvi Gautam, Amanjot Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Harleen Deol.

This multi-format series between India and Australia is expected to showcase competitive cricket and provide valuable opportunities for players returning from injury as well as emerging talent.
