This impressive tally includes 30 gold, 35 silver, and 49 bronze medals, marking India’s most successful outing in terms of gold medals. Athletics played a crucial role in India’s success, contributing the highest number of medals—65—an increase of 12 from the previous Asian Games. Notably, Sumit Antil excelled in the javelin throw, winning a gold medal, while Mahendra Gurjar and Sandeep Sargar secured silver and bronze, respectively, showcasing India’s dominance in that event.
