Patna, March 13: JD(U) spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad hailed the recent dialogue between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian as a significant diplomatic achievement for India. He noted that the discussions have yielded positive outcomes, directly benefiting the country.
Prasad stated that following the talks, Indian vessels have now been granted passage through the Strait of Hormuz. He revealed that this decision has initiated oil supplies to India, with approximately 135,000 metric tons of oil already delivered.
He emphasized that amidst current international conditions, this is a major accomplishment for India, aiding in the stabilization of the nation’s energy supply.
During this time, the JD(U) spokesperson also commented on parliamentary proceedings. He remarked that India operates as a multi-party democracy, where elected representatives from various parties convene in Parliament. In this context, the role of Speaker Om Birla is crucial, as he is regarded as the representative of all parties.
Prasad mentioned that the Speaker has clearly stated that no member of Parliament has the privilege to violate rules or speak arbitrarily. However, he also pointed out that the Speaker does not possess a mechanism to mute any member’s microphone.
The JD(U) leader accused several opposition members of recent disciplinary violations. He asserted that Parliament operates on public funds, and such actions that disrupt proceedings are unacceptable. It is the responsibility of all members to uphold the dignity of the House and respect democratic traditions.
