Ahmedabad, March 8: The excitement is palpable as the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is set to take place today between India and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Fans are eager to learn about the prize money for both the winner and the runner-up.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a total prize pool of $13.5 million (over ₹120 crores) for the 2026 edition, which is approximately 20% more than the 2024 event. The increase is attributed to strong broadcasting deals and sponsorship revenue, bolstered by matches hosted in India and Sri Lanka.
The winning team will receive $3 million (around ₹27.48 crores), while the runner-up will take home $1.6 million (approximately ₹14.65 crores). This guarantees that both India and New Zealand will walk away with substantial amounts, regardless of the outcome.
Additionally, South Africa and England, who were eliminated in the semifinals, will each receive $790,000 (about ₹7.24 crores). Teams that exited in the Super 8 stage will earn $380,000 (approximately ₹3.48 crores), including strong teams like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and West Indies.
Even teams that did not progress beyond the group stage will receive $250,000 (around ₹2.29 crores), ensuring that all participating teams benefit financially from the tournament.
This year’s T20 World Cup is not just about the title; it’s also a significant financial opportunity for all teams involved.
