Former Female Jailor Accuses Odishas DGP of Sexual Harassment
A former female jailor in Odisha has accused DGP Sushant Kumar Nath of sexual harassment, prompting a government investigation.

Bhubaneswar, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : A former female jailor from the Choudwar Circle Jail in Odisha has lodged serious allegations of sexual harassment against Sushant Kumar Nath, the state’s Director General of Police (DGP) for prisons. In light of these allegations, the Odisha government transferred Nath to a position as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Home Department on Sunday.
According to the written complaint filed by the former jailor, Nath visited the Choudwar facility on June 16, 2025, during her tenure. While she was on leave at the time, she reportedly spoke with Nath over the phone upon her return to duty on July 18, 2025.
The complainant alleged that during this phone call, Nath requested her to arrange a meeting with his purported friend, Kuldeep Ratha. During the meeting, Ratha allegedly asked to take a memorable photograph with the former jailor and subsequently obtained her mobile number to send her the picture. Shortly after, he began sending her messages containing inappropriate emojis.
The former jailor further claimed that Nath pressured her through Ratha to meet him alone on two separate occasions at different hotels on August 29 and September 25-26, 2025, but she declined both requests. She accused Nath of threatening her with harm, damage to her career, and reputational loss for rejecting his sexual advances.
Since she refused the unwanted invitations and did not comply with the demands conveyed through Ratha, she alleges that she has been targeted by Nath. The former jailor also claimed that on the night of October 2 and 3, 2025, there was an attempt to mislead the investigation into the escape of two notorious criminals from the Choudwar Circle Jail, involving tampering with records to shift blame onto others.
In response to her complaint, the Choudwar police registered a case on October 31, 2026, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 75(2) for sexual harassment, Section 351(2) for criminal intimidation, and Section 3(5) for general intent, initiating an investigation into the allegations.
