Imran Hashmi Embraces New Role in ‘Taskari: The Smugglers Web’

Mumbai: Actor Imran Hashmi is currently promoting his upcoming web series, ‘Taskari: The Smugglers Web’. He revealed that he immediately accepted the role after reading the script, saying it offered a completely new experience for him.

Imran shared, “Playing a customs officer is entirely new for me. It’s not just new for me but for any actor in the country because this world hasn’t been shown in such depth in films or series before. When a story is fresh, it gives audiences a chance to explore a new world and experience something very special.”

The series is directed by Neeraj Pandey and exposes the complex international smuggling networks. It highlights major smuggling routes involving coded paths, fake manifests, and clever deception across locations like Al-Dera, Addis Ababa, Milan, and Bangkok.

Story Set Around Mumbai Airport Customs Task Force

The narrative revolves around a specialised customs task force based at Mumbai International Airport. The team is led by an honest and strict officer, Arjun Meena, played by Imran Hashmi. Other key members include Mitali Kamath (Amruta Khanvilkar), Ravinder Gujjar (Nandish Singh Sandhu), and Prakash Kumar (Anurag Sinha).

Imran further explained, “Neeraj Pandey has introduced thrilling twists in this series that are quite different and engaging. Our audience often expects something special from us, and this series delivers suspense and surprises that will truly shock them. After narration, when I received the episodes to read, I was so impressed that I immediately said yes and wanted to take on this project wholeheartedly.”

Release and Audience Expectations

‘Taskari: The Smugglers Web’ is set to premiere on Netflix from January 14. The series will take viewers deep into the hidden world of smuggling while showcasing the bravery, dedication, and challenges faced by customs officers.
