Murshidabad, May 6: Humayun Kabir, the national president of the Aam Janata Udayan Party (AJUP) and newly elected MLA, launched a scathing attack on outgoing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for refusing to step down. He labeled the Trinamool Congress leader as a “bad-tempered woman” who lacks any sense of decorum.
Following his victory from the Rejinagar assembly seat, Kabir celebrated with a victory procession attended by a large number of supporters. In addition to Rejinagar, he also secured a win from the Nauda seat.
Addressing the gathering, Kabir expressed no shame in his remarks, asserting that Banerjee is indeed a “bad-tempered woman.” He criticized her refusal to accept defeat after the elections.
He stated that during the oath-taking ceremony, the chair would automatically be handed over to the new Chief Minister. If Banerjee does not accept this, he suggested that the Governor would have to intervene.
Kabir mocked Banerjee, suggesting she should turn to spiritual pursuits and visit the temple established in New Digha to chant the name of Hari.
He also dismissed allegations regarding the conduct of the elections, praising the Election Commission of India for ensuring a peaceful process.
“Why blame the ECI? They conducted the voting peacefully. I congratulate Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. In the past, elections were held in multiple phases, leading to violence and casualties. This time, the elections were peaceful with no issues,” he remarked.
Kabir noted that the massive crowd at his procession reflects public sentiment against the Trinamool Congress. He claimed that the atmosphere indicates the TMC has been wiped out in the state, as they had previously oppressed and robbed the people. Today, the TMC is finished in the state, which is why so many gathered to celebrate with him.
