Bhopal, August 15: In a heartfelt tribute to the sacrifices made by freedom fighters, Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel organized a special honor for local heroes on Friday. The initiative involved visiting the homes of freedom fighters residing in Bhopal to express gratitude for their contributions to India’s independence struggle.
Officials from the Lok Bhavan visited the homes of these brave individuals, presenting them with shawls, fruits, sweets, and gifts as a token of respect and appreciation. Among those honored were notable freedom fighters such as Mohammad Jameer, Savitri Devi Verma, Devisharan, Parvati Devi, and Narayani Devi.
Additionally, the wives of late freedom fighters Habib Nazar and Mohammad Mukhtar Khan, Firoz Jahan and Akhtar Jahan, respectively, were also recognized at their homes. This initiative comes as the nation prepares to celebrate Independence Day, a time to remember the sacrifices of freedom fighters and reflect on the values associated with the freedom movement.
The home visits underscore the Governor’s commitment to personally acknowledging the contributions of freedom fighters and their families. Madhya Pradesh will celebrate Independence Day on Saturday, with the main ceremony taking place at the Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will hoist the national flag and take the salute at a joint parade.
Following the parade inspection, Chief Minister Yadav will address the citizens of the state. The march will feature 22 contingents, including a police band. The parade will be led by IPS officer Aditya Singaria from Jabalpur’s Sihora, with Hemant Kumar, the Superintendent of Police from Singrauli, serving as the assistant parade commander.
Participants will include units from the Maharashtra Police, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, BSF, CISF, Hawk Force, STF, Women’s Police Force, SAF, district police, jail department, GRP, Home Guard, NCC, Guides, Scouts, Shourya Dal, mounted police, and police band contingents.
Medals will also be awarded to selected personnel for their exemplary and commendable service during the ceremony. Comprehensive arrangements have been made for security, traffic management, parking, and citizen movement for the state-level event.
