Ahmedabad, August 14: A significant environmental campaign has been launched in Amreli, Gujarat, ahead of the state’s 80th Independence Day celebrations. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel participated in a tree plantation program on Friday, which is part of a ₹40 crore initiative aimed at enhancing greenery in the city.
During the event, the Chief Minister planted a sapling at the Amreli Municipal Shelter House complex on Savarkundla Road. This large-scale plantation drive is funded through the District Mineral Foundation scheme.
As part of this initiative, an oxygen park will be developed, and approximately 13,000 trees will be planted along the main roads of the city. The goal is to transform Amreli into a “Green City.”
The Chief Minister’s visit took place just a day before the Independence Day celebrations. This year, the state-level Independence Day ceremony is being held in Amreli.
Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani and State Ministers for Energy and Law Kaushik Vekaria were also present at the plantation event.
This initiative aims to create a greener environment in the city in the coming years. The proposed oxygen park is a crucial component of the municipality’s “Green Amreli, Clean Amreli” plan.
Before the plantation program, municipal officials and local dignitaries welcomed Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, presenting him with mementos and shawls.
Earlier on Friday, the Chief Minister visited the historic Shri Nagnath Mahadev Temple in Amreli, where he performed rituals and water offerings amid Vedic chants. He prayed for the peace, prosperity, and continuous progress of the people of Gujarat.
Trustees of the Shri Nagnath Mahadev Temple honored the Chief Minister with mementos. During this visit, he also interacted with devotees and visitors present at the temple.
This visit was part of the events leading up to the state-level Independence Day ceremony scheduled for Saturday, where Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will lead the celebrations.
