Shimla, August 18: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhu Singh Sukhu addressed various issues during a press conference on Tuesday. Regarding the cabinet expansion, he mentioned that a 15-minute discussion took place with the top leadership. A second discussion is still pending. Once this second-level discussion occurs, a cabinet expansion will definitely follow. I believe it will happen soon.
Additionally, he spoke about the need to reduce the number of officials in the state. According to him, there is currently no need for such a large number of officials. In light of this, he proposed reducing the IAS cadre from 153 to 130. Similarly, he indicated a reduction in the IPS cadre as well as the IFS cadre, stating that there are currently too many officials working in the state. This step should be viewed as a move towards making the state self-reliant.
Chief Minister Sukhu also commented on the upcoming monsoon session. He questioned whether anyone had heard of a 10-day monsoon session during Jairam Thakur’s tenure. We have proposed a 10-day monsoon session, and if the opposition demands an extension, we will consider it. Our stance is that discussions should focus on issues. It is unfortunate that the opposition does not take any constructive action. They come, walk out, chant slogans, and then leave.
Sukhu stated that if the opposition wishes to protest, they are free to do so. In a democracy, the opposition has the power to raise objections on any issue, but they must also listen to the government’s arguments. Without hearing the government’s perspective, reaching any conclusion is futile, as shifting the discussion will not yield benefits. If discussions are issue-based, our cabinet members are ready to engage all day. We have no objections to discussing any matter.
He emphasized that under his administration, there will be no paper leaks. Anyone involved in such activities will face imprisonment.
He also criticized the BJP, stating that they are spending all their efforts on social media. If you look at the reels associated with them, it seems they are focused solely on that. Meanwhile, our government is portrayed as inactive. They try to convey the message that they are responsible for all actions. These individuals dominate social media, attempting to hide their corruption, but the layers of their corruption are now being exposed. The government is also preparing a white paper to unveil their corrupt practices.
