Prayagraj, August 3 (H.S.): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) and Uttar Pradesh Meteorological Department have issued a red alert for heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds in Prayagraj and eight other districts of central Uttar Pradesh over the next three hours. There is also a possibility of lightning strikes at some locations.

The red alert applies to the districts of Amethi, Bhadohi, Fatehpur, Jaunpur, Kaushambi, Mirzapur, Pratapgarh, Prayagraj, and Raebareli. These areas are expected to receive intense rainfall within the next three hours.
Forecast for the Next 16 Hours Across the State
Apart from the red alert, the weather departments have predicted light to moderate rainfall, along with thunder and sudden gusty winds, in 71 districts including Prayagraj over the next 16 hours.
Light to moderate rain with lightning has been forecast in the state capital Lucknow and the following districts: Ghazipur, Ballia, Chitrakoot, Mahoba, Banda, Hamirpur, Fatehpur, Jalaun, Raebareli, Kanpur, Jhansi, Etawah, Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Hathras, Mathura, Kasganj, Azamgarh, Mau, Ambedkar Nagar, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kanpur Dehat, Unnao, Auraiya, Barabanki, Kannauj, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Sitapur, Bahraich, Gonda, Siddharthnagar, Balrampur, Shravasti, Shahjahanpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Rampur, Aligarh, Badaun, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Sambhal, Hapur, Amroha, Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Meerut, Baghpat, Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar, and Shamli.
The IMD has also warned of possible lightning strikes in some of these regions.
