Sonbhadra, 23 August (Kiran News). Continuous rainfall since Friday night in Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra district has led to the opening of all twelve gates of the Dhandhraul Dam on Saturday afternoon. The increasing water pressure forced the Irrigation Department and administration to open the gates. District administration has also issued an alert for people living nearby.

According to official information, persistent rainfall has disrupted normal life in the area. Rivers, streams, and dams are all flowing above normal levels. The water level of Dhandhraul Dam reached 31.80 metres, after which the administration opened ten gates at noon on Saturday. Later, seeing the rising pressure, two more gates were opened at 4 PM. News of the dam gates being opened attracted a crowd of tourists and visitors. However, the rising water level has become a matter of concern for local farmers whose fields are nearby.
Currently, dark clouds are still present, and intermittent rainfall continues. Tourists hope that if the dam’s water level rises further, more gates may be opened, allowing them to enjoy the scenic beauty of the dam. However, for farmers and their crops, the situation could bring trouble.
