Jaipur, August 10: The Meteorological Department has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall in several areas of southern and eastern Rajasthan on Monday and Tuesday. Some regions may experience very heavy rainfall as well.
The department has issued an orange alert for seven districts in Rajasthan, anticipating heavy rain in parts of southeastern Rajasthan. Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued for 24 districts.
Rainfall is expected to continue in many parts of the state until August 13. Weather conditions are likely to improve in western Rajasthan from August 14 and in eastern Rajasthan from August 15. Meanwhile, heavy rain on Sunday caused waterlogging in various areas. The Kanota Dam in Jaipur overflowed, while roads in Shri Dungargarh, Bikaner, were submerged, with rainwater flowing through the streets like rivers.
Reports of heavy rainfall have also emerged from Hanumangarh and Sri Ganganagar, with Shahbad in Baran recording nearly 2 inches of rain. Temperatures dropped by up to two degrees Celsius in Nagaur, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Kota, and Pratapgarh, while some districts, including Jhunjhunu, Alwar, and Churu, saw a rise in temperatures. On Sunday, the maximum temperature across Rajasthan remained below 30 degrees Celsius, with Barmer recording the highest at 39.9 degrees Celsius.
According to Radheshyam Sharma, director of the Jaipur Meteorological Center, a low-pressure area has formed over northeastern Madhya Pradesh and adjacent Chhattisgarh, gradually moving northwest. The monsoon trough has also shifted back to its normal position from north to south.
Currently, it extends from Bikaner, Gwalior, northeastern Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Puri towards the Bay of Bengal. A cyclonic circulation is also active in northeastern Rajasthan and surrounding areas. Due to these weather systems, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in southern and eastern Rajasthan on August 10 and 11, with very heavy rainfall possible in some locations.
Officials have indicated that the rainfall is expected to continue until August 13. Conditions in western Rajasthan are likely to become relatively dry from August 14, while rainfall activity in eastern Rajasthan is expected to decrease from August 15.
