Trump Makes Final Push for Senate Control Ahead of Midterm Elections

Ahead of the midterm elections, Trump rallies support for Republican candidates to maintain Senate control.

Washington, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : President Donald Trump intensified his campaign efforts on November 2, 2026, urging voters to ensure Republican control of the Senate ahead of the upcoming midterm elections. While rallying in Iowa and Kansas, he declared, “We must win the Senate.”

During a press briefing in Dubuque, Iowa, Trump was joined by House Speaker Mike Johnson and Secretary of State Doug Burgum. He emphasized the importance of maintaining Republican dominance in the Senate, warning that even a few opposing votes could disrupt party unity.

Trump expressed his support for Iowa Senate candidate Ashley Hinson and Kansas candidate Roger Marshall, stating, “We are confident that both will win.” He highlighted his campaign’s final leg, mentioning his upcoming stop in Kansas after Iowa.

Political activity surrounding the Michigan Senate seat is also heating up. Trump welcomed Democratic Congresswoman Haley Stevens’ endorsement of Republican candidate Mike Rogers, who is competing against Democratic contender Abdul Al-Sayed. He praised Stevens’ decision as wise, asserting that Al-Sayed would harm the nation. Trump added, “I would like to thank Stevens with a phone call,” and welcomed her to join the Republican Party if she chooses.

Speaker Johnson echoed Trump’s sentiments, stating that the election represents a battle between rational thought and extremist ideas. He noted that Stevens and her fiancé have faced significant threats, commending her bravery in taking such a stand.

Trump described his midterm campaign as unprecedented, pointing to large crowds at rallies and no empty seats. He also mentioned a recent conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling it “very good.” However, the White House did not provide an official account of the discussion, which reportedly involved war-related issues.

According to Axios, Netanyahu is pressuring Trump for an immediate strike on Iran following the midterm elections, while Trump is inclined to continue diplomatic talks with Iran. Sources indicated that discussions were intense, though both the White House and Netanyahu’s office declined to comment.

On trade discussions with Canada, Trump stated, “We have a framework for an agreement that will benefit American farmers and the U.S., as well as Canada.” He noted a conversation with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney regarding this matter.

When asked about Democratic Senator Chris Murphy, who is recovering from a stroke, Trump said he would reach out at the appropriate time.

As the midterm elections approach, the Republican Party faces the challenge of retaining control of the Senate. Trump concluded his campaign efforts in Kansas on Sunday.
