Chandigarh, July 30: The Haryana government has approved a cutting-edge industrial park in IMT Ambala under the central government’s flagship ‘Bharat Industrial Development Scheme’ (BIDS). This decision aims to boost industrialization and attract new investments.
The approval was granted during a state-level committee (SLC) meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, paving the way for final approval from the Government of India.
The proposed project will develop a ‘plug-and-play’ industrial park over 108.58 acres in IMT Ambala, with an estimated investment of ₹304.10 crores. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance the state’s industrial infrastructure and strengthen its position as a preferred manufacturing destination in India.
During the meeting, the state-level committee reviewed the technical, financial, and infrastructure aspects of the proposal before recommending it under the BIDS. This scheme aims to establish 100 world-class industrial parks across the country, with an investment of ₹33,660 crores over six years.
Commissioner and Secretary (Industry and Commerce) Amit Kumar Agarwal stated that the proposed industrial park meets the essential criteria of the scheme. These criteria include the availability of contiguous, legally unobstructed land, robust multimodal connectivity, and readiness to commence operations swiftly.
Designed as a modern manufacturing ecosystem, the project will feature 256 industrial plots, 15 pre-built factory sheds, warehousing facilities, a common facility center, housing for workers, a skill development center, power infrastructure, water treatment facilities, a common effluent treatment plant (CETP), an internal road network, utility services, and extensive green spaces.
