
New Delhi, June 14: In a thrilling match against Pakistan during the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur achieved a significant milestone. She has now become the highest run-scorer for the Indian women’s team in T20 World Cup history, surpassing former captain Mithali Raj.
In the match held on Sunday, Harmanpreet scored 36 runs off 35 balls, including four boundaries. During her innings, she formed a crucial partnership of 91 runs for the third wicket with Smriti Mandhana. This performance propelled her to the top of the run-scoring charts for the Indian women’s team in T20 World Cup history.
Harmanpreet has amassed a total of 762 runs in 34 innings across 40 matches, featuring one century and four half-centuries. She has now overtaken Mithali Raj, who scored 726 runs in 23 innings over 24 matches from 2009 to 2018, including five half-centuries.
Smriti Mandhana ranks as the third-highest run-scorer for the Indian women’s team in T20 World Cup history. She has scored 592 runs in 26 innings across 26 matches, with five half-centuries. In the recent match against Pakistan, Mandhana played a spectacular innings, scoring 68 runs off just 26 balls, including two sixes and eight fours.
Jemimah Rodrigues is in fourth place, having scored 408 runs in 20 innings across 20 matches, with two half-centuries. Poonam Raut follows in fifth place with 375 runs from 15 innings in 15 matches, including three half-centuries. Shafali Verma is sixth, with 368 runs in 15 innings over the period from 2020 to 2026.
