Bengaluru, March 27: Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh conducted a specialized training camp for emerging off-spin bowlers at the BCCI Center of Excellence. The camp aimed to enhance the skills of young players and provide them with strategic insights into the game.
On March 2, it was announced that Harbhajan Singh would lead a camp for off-spinners at the Center of Excellence. Earlier this month, former left-arm fast bowler Zaheer Khan had also conducted a fast bowling camp for India A and Under-19 pace bowlers.
From March 23 to 26, spinners who benefited from Harbhajan’s guidance included Mumbai’s off-spin bowling all-rounder Tanush Kotian and fellow off-spinner Himanshu Singh. Off-spinner Saransh Jain from Madhya Pradesh also participated in the camp.
The BCCI shared on social media, “One of India’s greatest spinners, Harbhajan Singh, worked with the High-Performance Monitoring Group and emerging off-spinners at the BCCI Center of Excellence.”
The board added, “He discussed every aspect, from technical insights to strategic planning. The sessions were highly beneficial for participants. The veteran player imparted new lessons on various aspects of the game. Training was conducted in conditions and environments similar to actual matches.”
Harbhajan expressed his enjoyment on Instagram, stating, “It was great to spend time with our future players. I loved it.”
Harbhajan Singh is regarded as one of India’s finest off-spinners. He has taken 417 wickets in 103 Test matches at an average of 32.46, making him the fourth most successful bowler in Test format for India. He has also excelled in One Day Internationals, ranking as the fifth most successful bowler in the country with 269 wickets in 236 matches. Additionally, he has claimed 25 wickets in 28 T20 matches.
Harbhajan was a member of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and the ODI World Cup in 2011.
