
Chandigarh, March 21: In a special general body meeting organized by the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), Gurmeet Singh Meet Hair, a Member of Parliament from Sangrur, has been elected unopposed as the honorary secretary. The election took place at the PCA New International Cricket Stadium, where election officer Jagpal Singh Sandhu announced Meet Hair’s unanimous selection.
The Punjab Cricket Association serves as the governing body for cricket activities in Punjab, overseeing both the Punjab men’s and women’s cricket teams, and is affiliated with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Expressing gratitude for the trust shown by PCA members, Meet Hair stated that he is extremely thankful for their support and reaffirmed his strong commitment to the development and excellence of cricket in Punjab.
Meet Hair emphasized his dedication to promoting cricket development initiatives in the remote areas of Punjab. He expressed hope for collaboration from all stakeholders to create a robust cricket ecosystem that not only nurtures exceptional players but also upholds the spirit and significance of the sport.
Notably, Meet Hair has previously held various cabinet minister positions in the Punjab government, particularly as the Minister of Sports. He received widespread acclaim for introducing the state’s sports policy aimed at honing the skills of emerging players and identifying and nurturing new talents.
