Gujarat Welcomes PM Modis Announcements on Womens Reservation and Free Coaching

Vadodara, August 16: Residents of Vadodara, Gujarat, expressed their support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcements made from the Red Fort on Saturday. His call for political parties to unite for implementing 33% reservation for women and providing free online coaching for competitive exams was particularly well-received.

During his address on the 80th Independence Day, PM Modi urged all political parties to collaborate under the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ to ensure women’s representation in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. He emphasized that increased participation of women in legislative bodies would enable them to play a significant role in shaping national policies.

In response, Varsha Vyas, chairperson of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation’s Standing Committee, thanked the Prime Minister for raising this issue. She noted that women have always made vital contributions to the country’s development and have stepped up whenever the nation, society, or family needed them.

Vyas stated, “I thank and congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi for addressing this topic from the Red Fort. Looking back at history, from the 1857 revolution to Rani Lakshmibai, women have consistently contributed to the nation’s development, freedom, and society. Whenever families and communities needed support, women have played their part.”

Advocate Komal Kukreja remarked that the Prime Minister’s appeal should encourage all political parties to support increased political participation for women. She added, “PM Modi has urged all parties to remove obstacles in implementing women’s reservation. There should be no hindrance in ensuring 50% participation of women from the Panchayat to Parliament.”

Advocate Sheetal Upadhyay also called on political parties to set aside their differences and unite on this issue. She stated, “The Prime Minister’s message from the Red Fort on Independence Day shows how much he prioritizes women and encourages them to advance. I urge all political parties to rise above political differences and support this law for women’s welfare.”

It is noteworthy that Parliament passed a law in 2023 granting 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. The implementation of this law will occur after the completion of the census and delimitation process. Following PM Modi’s recent appeal, the topic has gained renewed attention, with him urging political parties to expedite the implementation of this arrangement.

Additionally, PM Modi announced another significant initiative for students and youth, offering free online coaching for those preparing for competitive exams. He pointed out that the cost of coaching has become a significant financial burden for poor and middle-class families. With digital resources, students can prepare without the need for expensive coaching or relocating to larger cities.

This announcement has also been welcomed by students and parents in Vadodara. Advocate Shalav Majmudar commented, “This is an important initiative by the Prime Minister. He understands that education is the greatest means for many families to fulfill their dreams. The announcement of free online coaching will greatly benefit students who lack access to quality coaching facilities. Every student aspires to attain higher education, gain knowledge, and receive proper guidance.”

The free online coaching initiative is part of several youth-focused programs mentioned by PM Modi in his Independence Day address. He also announced a plan to train one crore youth in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to expand opportunities for them.
