Ahmedabad, August 1: The Gujarat Police’s State Monitoring Cell (SMC) has confiscated Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and beer worth ₹59.23 lakh during a prohibition operation in Ahmedabad. The total estimated value of the seized items, including other goods, amounts to ₹79.26 lakh.
According to the State Monitoring Cell, this operation was conducted under the directives of Director General of Police (DGP) G.S. Malik, aimed at intensifying action against illegal liquor and gambling activities across Gujarat.
The raid was led by Police Inspector S.M. Jadeja, who searched a parking area adjacent to the entry toll plaza on the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway, within the jurisdiction of the Ramol police station.
During the operation, police recovered approximately 600 cartons of IMFL and beer, containing a total of 12,843 bottles. The value of these bottles is ₹59,23,014.
In addition to the liquor, other properties were also seized, bringing the total value of the confiscated items to ₹79,26,014. A prohibition case was registered at the Ramol police station on July 31.
This case has been filed under Sections 65(A)(E), 81, 83, 98(2), and 116(B) of the Gujarat Prohibition Act. The police have released the names of five wanted suspects in this case.
Among them is Shivku Karpara, a resident of Refda village in Botad district, who is accused of arranging the liquor shipment. Also implicated is Dhiru Karpara from Ramparda village in the Muli taluka of Surendranagar.
The police stated that the remaining three suspects include individuals responsible for sending and transporting the shipment. This latest seizure follows several significant prohibition operations conducted by the State Monitoring Cell in recent months.
