Tamil Nadu Minister V. Senthil Balaji Continues Legal Battle, Signs Register for Sixth Consecutive Day

Chennai, August 1: Former Tamil Nadu minister and DMK legislator V. Senthil Balaji visited the Triplicane D1 police station in Chennai for the sixth consecutive day on Saturday to sign the register in connection with a case involving alleged “horse trading” related to a Tamilaga Vetrikazhagam (TVK) legislator.

After completing the formalities, Balaji spoke to reporters, stating that his name is not mentioned in the FIR concerning attempts to influence the TVK legislator. He emphasized that he will confront the case legally and prove that the allegations against him are false.

The former minister also referred to another case filed against him by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, which involved searches at his premises. He noted that he has approached the Supreme Court in this matter and has secured anticipatory bail.

Balaji mentioned that he has filed a petition requesting time to consult with his lawyers regarding the anticipatory bail proceedings and future legal strategies. He expressed his willingness to cooperate with the judicial process and fight all cases in the appropriate courts.

Targeting the state government, the DMK leader accused it of focusing on filing cases against him instead of addressing public issues. He stated, “A constructive government should prioritize resolving the people’s complaints and implementing welfare schemes, rather than spending time filing cases against political opponents.”

Balaji alleged that the government is repeatedly targeting him through legal actions and investigations. Nevertheless, he remains confident that he will demonstrate in court that all cases filed against him are baseless.

He affirmed his readiness to legally confront every accusation and will continue to utilize all available options under the law.

On Saturday, his appearance at the police station was part of the conditions set for reporting and signing the register. He reiterated his commitment to comply with these conditions while also legally challenging the cases against him.
