Gujarat Launches Natural Farming Kiosks to Boost Local Agriculture

Gujarats CM Bhupendra Patel inaugurates kiosks for natural farming produce, enhancing market access for local farmers.

Valsad, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : Gujarat’s Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated a sales center for natural agricultural products in Valsad district on November 3. This center is part of a proposed network of ten kiosks aimed at connecting farmers directly with consumers, ensuring better profits for their produce.

The “Prabha Natural Agricultural Produce Sales Center” is designed to link farmers practicing natural farming with consumers through a more organized supply chain. This initiative seeks to bridge the gap between production and retail sales. During his visit, CM Patel inspected the center and learned about the various products available for sale.

The outlet offers a range of naturally grown vegetables, fruits, grains, and honey. It also stocks materials used in natural farming, such as cow dung liquid fertilizer, cow urine, seed treatment solutions, and bio-fertilizers, which farmers can purchase for their fields.

This initiative aims to provide farmers with improved marketing systems while giving consumers easier access to naturally produced agricultural goods. The ten proposed kiosks in Valsad are expected to strengthen the supply chain from farms to consumers and help farmers receive fair prices for their products.

Additionally, the sales center intends to raise consumer awareness about naturally produced food items and encourage farmers to adopt natural farming practices more widely. The Gujarat government is promoting natural agriculture through financial assistance and training programs.

In 2020, the state announced a monthly support of ₹900 for eligible farmers practicing cow-based natural farming to help with the maintenance of a native cow. Assistance was also offered for purchasing kits used to prepare natural farming inputs, like bio-fertilizers.

On a national level, the central government approved a National Mission on Natural Farming in November 2024, aimed at promoting chemical-free farming based on livestock-integrated practices and diversified cropping systems. This mission seeks to improve soil health, reduce farming costs, and enhance ecological sustainability.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Finance, Urban Development, and Housing Minister Kanu Desai, along with Lok Sabha MP and whip Dhaval Patel. Valsad MLA Bharat Patel, District Development Officer Atirag Chaplot, and Superintendent of Police (SP) Yuvraj Singh Jadeja were also present at the event.
