Gandhinagar, March 18: Gujarat’s Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi has confirmed that the Assembly Speaker was informed about a bomb threat in the premises on Wednesday morning. The alert was communicated via email, prompting immediate action from senior officials.
In a conversation with reporters, Deputy CM Sanghvi stated that similar threatening letters had been received in the past. Following those incidents, top officials initiated investigations, and now another letter has been sent to the Assembly Speaker, raising numerous questions. However, the investigation is ongoing, and clarity will be achieved soon. “We will not be intimidated by such threats under any circumstances. If anyone believes we are afraid, that is a misconception,” he asserted.
Sanghvi noted that previous threats had led to the arrest of several individuals involved in selling SIM cards. Some of these cases were reportedly linked to foreign entities, which the police are currently investigating. The authorities are working diligently to identify these individuals, ensuring that they face consequences.
He added that details of those identified are being forwarded to the central government. Additionally, efforts are underway to establish contact with the Bangladeshi government regarding the matter. Sanghvi was present at the scene when the Assembly Speaker received the letter, alongside the Chief Minister and other ministers. He expressed full confidence in the Gujarat police, stating that all involved parties will be identified and dealt with severely.
Sanghvi emphasized the importance of adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) whenever such incidents arise. “Our police are executing their duties under these SOPs,” he said. He reassured the public that those who think such emails will instill fear in the people of Gujarat are mistaken. “We are fully prepared to address these issues,” he concluded, urging everyone to avoid any misconceptions.
